Turning on the lights - launch of new lighting installation in Amsterdam

ENLIGHTENme’s Urban Lighting Lab in the Wildeman district of Amsterdam will launch its lighting installation on the evening of 20th October 2023.

Based on a year of community engagement, spatial analysis and social research into the lives and needs of older adults in Wildeman, we will be turning on the lights on the pedestrian bridge connecting the neighbourhood to the Osdorplein shopping area, an urban walkway used by most of the local population.

The lighting installation is equipped with dimming and colour temperature controls that can be varied in real time, allowing residents to participate in upcoming workshops to explore optimal lighting for the use of public space by the older population. The launch event will publicise the installation and allow residents to experience the lighting control programmes.
